Designing Type by Karen Cheng

Designing type by Karen Cheng

I picked up a copy of designing type from my local second bookstore.  I do not have a natural sense of typography design, however, this book helps one navigate the world of typefaces.  In web design and with the emergence of Google fonts typefaces have the potential to influence the look and feel of a website more than any other element.

The lack of a specific and comprehensive guide to type design has long been a frustration for typographer, graphic designers and students.  It is full of over 400 type specimens and diagrams that demonstrate the visual design principles and letter construction.

Designing Type spends more time on my desk in easy reaching distance than it does in my bookcase.
