So, you can now type in the handwriting of David Bowie

There is something obsessively intimate about looking at musical icon’s lyrics on a sheet of paper. A time capsule effect that relives that romanticism of singer-songwriters laying of foundations for future hits. A new project, Songwriters Fonts, launched by French graphic designer Nicolas Damiens and copywriter Julien Sans, gives typography fans the opportunity to experiment with using the handwritten scrawls of some of the world’s most treasured lyricists including David Bowie, Kurt Cobain and John Lennon.  Each of the fonts were developed using “original handwritten letters and notes” from each of the artists. The fonts are free to download – for personal use only – available here.
