Cristina Otero, a 25-year-old Spanish photographer , captivates us with her zoomed-in self-portraits. In her series Tutti Frutti, Otero uses fruit as her inspiration, disrupting traditional ideals of feminine beauty by interacting with various fruits in a sensuous performance for the camera. Her big, innocent eyes attract the viewer in, while the bold, dramatic colours of her make-up match each fruit.
During an interview, she explained that she enjoys photographing people’s faces because they are “like a dictionary of emotions and ideas,” with “everything you desire in a person written on her face, so easy to read.” Otero creates innovative photographs that are extremely eye-catching by using her own face as the canvas. These self-portraits are full of character!
