Christian Germanaz (1940-) is a French industrial designer and maker of furniture; active in Paris. He studied in Paris, both at the Ecole Boulle and the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Arts Decoratifs.

Half and Half Seat

Germanaz designed the Half and Half seat (1964), it was manufactured by Airborne in 1968. This consisted of two identical plastic shapes clamped together to form a bench.

In 1970, he formed his own design office and designed many public spaces, including hotels, restaurants and hospitals. As an interior architect, he designed art galleries, museums and the Manufacture Nationale de Sevres. He designed exhibition sets for the Paris Grand Palais, Caen, and the Ecole des Beaux-Arts; stage sets for dancer Maurice Bejart; seats, including Comedia, created with the help of VIA Carte Blanche and shown at the Bloomingdale’s, New York, VIA exhibition. At the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Arts Decoratifs, he taught.
