What is Encyclopedia.Design?

Encyclopedia.Design is a website intended to provide accurate and detailed information directly relevant to developing decorative and applied arts over the past 125 years regarding individuals, businesses, and materials. Most blog entries are for furniture, textile, glass, metal, wallpaper and interior designers, ceramic designers, and industrial designers.

Encyclopedia.Design covers decoration and design in Eastern and Western Europe, Japan, Australia, and North and South America. All the major design-art organisations and associations, as well as manufacturers, are addressed. Only influential theoreticians, pedagogues and schools are included. Some design stores and descriptions of materials used in manufacturing and crafting are mentioned. The goal of the website is to be as descriptive as possible. Some boundaries had to be put, however. As for what should be left out, I must be the final arbiter.
