Louvre Abu Dhabi


Since opening in 2017, the Louvre Abu Dhabi has welcomed over two million visitors from all over the world who have come to enjoy the Museum’s rich intercultural collection, eight cutting-edge international exhibitions and a range of cultural programs for people of all ages.

The institution further strengthened its commitment to education, opening the Children’s Museum in July 2019 – the first Museum of its kind in the Arab world – and welcoming over 60,000 student visits by offering training and job opportunities for the Emirates and the local community.

Manuel Rabate, director of the Louvre Abu Dhabi, said: “In just two years, the Louvre Abu Dhabi has established itself as a space for cultural exchange, community engagement and progressive dialogue. In this period we have achieved significant milestones, from important acquisitions of works of art for the museum collection, to exceptional special exhibitions that attracted global attention “.

Digital Content

During the coronavirus lockdown, the Museum accelerated its digital programs so that they can continue to share content. On its website, the Museum has uploaded video, audio and images for the public. It is enabling the collection into the homes of those that want to enjoy them.

Reopened after coronavirus

The Museum recently reopened after being closed for several months due to Covid-19 Pandemic. To avoid contagion, museum officials replaced the usual paper maps with mobile applications, installed thermal scanners and suspended the valet service. The entrance is by a timed ticket with a maximum of three hours per visit.
