Davide Mercatali (b.1948) is a Italian Designer.

Education

He worked independently as a graphic and product designer and illustrator for advertising agencies, publishers, and his clients; he worked for the Societa Donchi Formart, Milan. In 1978, with Paolo Pedrizzetti, he set up an industrial design studio where he initially designed materials and tiles. He worked on promotional accessories and point-of-sale displays in retail stores and designed fabrics and dinnerware. With an architect, M. Dall’Asta created the Nomade seating systems with buckles and straps. With Paolo Pednizetti, he designed the 1978 I Balocchi collection of coloured faucets and bathroom fixtures produced by Fantini and, in the 1980s, Selz flatware in stainless steel with nylon handles by Case Casa- Industrie Casalinghi Mari. For Imaestri he designed the Nirvana Set and Fly Set door handles.

In 1982, (with Pedrizetti) formed the Associated Studio, which produced designs for domestic goods, electrical appliances, interior decoration, lighting, accessories, and building components and tools. He was a member of ADI (Associazione per il Disegno Industriale). In 1984, he founded the group Zeus (Noto) for furniture and furnishings design. In 1989, he coordinated Metals, a group of jewellery designers, for the production of objects and articles in metal.

Recognition

Received 1981 (Calibro with Pedrizetti) Compasso d’Oro, and once subsequently.
