American furniture making has undergone various eras and fashion trends. There were 13 significant periods in American furniture history: Early American, Colonial, Pennsylvania Dutch, Federal, Sheraton, American Empire, Shaker, Victorian, Art Nouveau, Arts and Crafts, Art Deco, and Modern/Contemporary.
