Tea Service Manufacturer Adie Brothers

Adie Brothers Manufacturing Jewellers & Silversmiths was a British firm in Birmingham that specialised in crafting high-quality jewellery and silverware.

Background

The firm was founded in 1879. It produced Modern silver designs by Harold Stabler and Fernand Pire. One of its best-known designs was Stabler’s 1935 tea set, produced in smooth and rectangular forms with rectangular wooden handles and flat rectangular hinged lids and semicircular disk finials.

The company quickly gained a reputation for its exquisite designs and attention to detail. Over the years, Adie Brothers became known for its innovative use of materials and techniques, such as electroplating and enamelling. The firm’s pieces were highly sought after by collectors and connoisseurs alike, with many of them featuring intricate patterns and motifs inspired by nature or historical events.

Adie Brothers also played an important role in developing the Arts and Crafts movement, emphasising traditional craftsmanship over mass production. Despite facing challenges during World War I and II, Adie Brothers continued to produce exceptional pieces until it closed its doors in 1984. Today, the company’s legacy lives on through its stunning creations that are still cherished by collectors worldwide.
