Ulla Forsell was born in 1944 and studied at the College of Art and Design in Stockholm and Holland. She now lives in Stockholm and has her workshop there where she has been creating glass since 1974.
Biography
Forsell worked at Orrefors. In 1974, she established her workshop in Stockholm (with Asa Brandt, Eva Ullberg, and Anders Wingard) and the studio Freeblowers.
She is famous for her circular dishes with “three-dimensional” applications of flowers, leaves and fruits. She has also worked a lot with mirrors and light reflection and colour on them.
Old museum collections, baskets of solidifying flowers and grapes, bottles, funnels, magic drops from the laboratory, botanic gardens, old window glass, and grandeur mirrors have inspired her.
Exhibitions
Ulla Forsell is represented at the National Museum in Stockholm, Röhsska Museum in Gothenburg, Corning Museum of Glass in New York State, Victoria and Albert Museum in London, and Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe in Hamburg.
