A-to-Z of Everything Matteo Thun Has Done
Index Thun: From A to Z Matteo Thun’s The Index Book is a comprehensive look at everything he has done in his career.
From architecture to product design, Thun’s portfolio is extensive and impressive. He has worked with various high-profile clients and received numerous awards for his innovative and sustainable designs. The Index Book is a valuable resource for anyone interested in Thun’s work or design in general.
Matteo Thun, born in 1952, is an Italian designer and architect. He and Ettore Sottsass, Andrea Branzi, Aldo Cibic, Michele de Lucchi, and Michael Graves started the design group Memphis. Thun created some of the most recognisable product styles.
Thun took his happy style to Swatch in the early 1990s, where he worked as Creative Director until 1993. The Memphis group’s colourful postmodern furniture helped define product design in the early to mid-1980s with its strange mix of kitsch and futurism.
Thun has given brands like Campari, Illy Coffee, Philips Electronics, and Porsche his special touch. In 2001, his Side Hotel in Hamburg was named Hotel of the Year, and in 2004, the Wallpaper Design Award went to his Vigilius mountain resort.
The Index by Matteo Thun is a list of everything he has done in his career. From 1980 until now, from A to Z, it looks at his work, from building to designing things like coffee cups, restaurants, mountain resorts, wristwatches, and villas.
The book examines Thun’s work through themes such as sustainability and the environment, economy and aesthetics, saving energy, and modern luxury. It has photos, sketches, watercolour drawings, and plans.
