Bruno Gecchelin (b.1939) is an Italian architect-designer. He was born in Milan.
Education
He studied architecture at Politecnico di Milano.
Biography
Beginning his professional career in 1962, he worked for many major firms; designed lighting for O-Luce, furniture for Busnelli and Frau, refrigerators and gas stoves for Indesit, glassware for Venini, items for Skipper and Fratelli Guzzini, 1989 Atelier 75 range of four kitchen utensils, and 1987—88 Shuttle range of track lighting. The Atelier 75 range was designed to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the founding of Guzzini. With Ettore Sottsass, he designed the Fiat Coima camper, Fiat Panda automobile, Olivetti typewriters, calculators and computer terminals. Clients included Bazzani, Arteluce, Fiat, and Venini.
Recognition
The 1970 Olivetti MC27 calculator, on which Gecchelin worked, received Premio Compasso d’Oro.
