Andre Frechet (1875-1973) and Paul Frechet were French decorators and furniture designers. They were born in Chalons-sur-Mame; and active in Paris.

Working together and individually from 1906, the Frechet brothers’ furniture designs were produced by various firms, including Jacquemin Freres in Strasbourg, E. Verot, and Charles Jean-selme; 1909-11.

Andre was a professor at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts, Nantes; in 1911, he settled in, Paris and became director of studies, Ecole Boulle and, 1919-34, was the director; from 1923, was editor of the magazine Mobilier et Decoration; designed for the Studium Louvre; 1935-39, taught at Academie Julian, Paris; executed numerous private commissions.

Some of his students were recruited for Jacques-Emile Rhulmann’s workshop. Tapisserie de Beauvais produced his tapestry designs for various rooms in the Palais de l’Elysee, Paris.

Throughout the 1920s until the mid-1930s, work was shown at Salons of Societe des Artistes Decorateurs and sporadically at events of Salon d’Automne. With 72 of his students, they designed the pavilion of the city of Paris (with Pierre Lehalle and Georges Levard). They participated in the pavilion of Design atelier Studium of Magasins du Louvre, both at the 1925 Paris ‘Exposition Internationale des Arts Decoratifs Modernes.’
