Pierluigi Cerri (b.1939) is an Italian architect, industrial, graphic and exhibition designer. Cerri was a partner in the architecture firm Gregotti Associati. He designed the 1976 Biennale di Venezia, for Electa publishing company, and for Palazzo Grassi, Venice. He was a designer of books and art director of magazines Rassegna and Casabella, editor of the latter, and associated with the journal Lotus International. He was responsible for the graphic design series Pagina.

Biography

In 1998 he founded with Alessandro Colombo the Studio Cerri & Associati, and numerous are the achievements, projects and recognitions of his and the partners: renovation of Palazzo Marino alla Scala and Fondazione Arnaldo Pomodoro in Milan-National award Reed-In/Arch in 2016; Corporate identity for Lingotto in Turin, Italy ‘ 90, Pirelli, Salone del Mobile in Milan, MART Museum of Contemporary Art of Trento and Rovereto, Triennale di Milano, Prada American’s Cup, Genova04 European Capital of Culture, City Life, interiors and livery high trains Speed NTV, installations Shanghai Italian Center Pavillion on the site Expo 2010. 

Exhibition Designer

He was active as an exhibition designer, designed 1978 ‘Peter Behrens und die AEG’ exhibition, Berlin; 1978 ‘Carrozzeria Italiana’ exhibition, Turin and Rome; 1981 ‘Identité Italienne,’ Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris; 1983 ‘Alexander Calder’ exhibition, Turin; 1984 ‘Italian Design,’ Stuttgart and Tokyo; 1984 ‘Venti Progetti per il futuro del Lingotto,’ Turin; 1986 ‘Futurismo e Futurismi,’ Venice. Industrial design clients included B&B Italia, Fiat, IBM, Molteni, Unifor, Missoni, and Marotto.

Recognition

Countless accolades: Compasso d’oro 1995, 2001 and 2004, award Art Director Club to career 1994. The award for Good Industrial Design – Gold Product Design 2003 by Industrie Forum design Hannover and International Super Yacht Design Award, Live Time Award To the 2004 career and silver Lady of the museum Poldi Pandian of Milan 2006. In 2017 he designed the productions for the exhibition of Caravaggio at Palazzo Reale and is the author of the Landside project of the redesign of the façade of Milan Linate Airport.

He was the Professor of architecture at the University of Venice since 1971, as well as many other teaching positions. Has designed for Fontana Arte and B & B Italia.
