Arne Petersen (1922 – 2002) was a Danish metalworker.
Biography
At the Copenhagen firm C.C. Herman, Petersen learnt silver and goldsmithing methods. He joined the Georg Jensen Solvsmedie in 1948 and worked in the hollow-ware department until 1976. His 1975 Bottle Opener, made of stainless steel soldered with brass, received a lot of attention.
Exhibitions
His work was featured in the Smithsonian Institute’s ‘Georg Jensen Silversmithy: 77 Artists, 75 Years’ exhibition in 1980. The ‘Bottle Opener’ was shown in the Philadelphia Museum of Art’s ‘Design Since 1945’ exhibition, which ran from 1983 to 84.
